Peer support sessions involve a range of activities. There will likely be much discussion on problems and how to solve them, healthcare, sharing of and listening to others’ experiences, setting and reaching goals, and the emotional difficulties and stresses in having diabetes. As well as discussion, groups may engage in activities such as walking, playing sports, or sharing recipes and other information. Finally, although the thought of being a peer support facilitator may be a mixture of excitement and apprehension, we hope the peers will be appreciative and grateful for your efforts and time in supporting them!
